Rope Access

Steeplejacks on rope

The use of ropes for accessing tall structures can be traced back hundreds of years, today whilst the principles remain the same the equipment and it's safe use has been totally modernised.

The traditional bosuns seats incorporating acid resistant ropes remains the choice of the modern day steeplejack when called upon to access inside industrial chimneys, where external access is required the modern day twin rope abseiling method provides a more user friendly access solution.

At Churchills we recognise that any requirement for working from rope access should always be kept to an absolute minimum and should only be employed for work of a short duration.

Prior to using ropes as the choice of access it is imperative to have in place an established and rehearsed rescue and recovery plan, often height's at which the work will be undertaken makes it impracticable to rely on the emergency services as a primary means of rescue.

All Churchill operatives are trained and equipped to effect rescues up to and exceeding 200 metres in height.
